Hi everyone, it’s Mr. Arigato!
I apologize for the long, long absence. Things have been busy at Kotobukiya!
Today I have an update from the Kikaku Guys’ Yamashita. Enjoy!
Hi everyone, long time no see. This is Yamashita from the Kikaku Guys.
Today I’m introducing our our Ultimate Spider-Man ARTFX+ Statue, which is back for pre-orders available now!
A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import! Kotobukiya’s Marvel Comics ARTFX+ Statues have brought you Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the Avengers as well as the heroic mutants of the X-Men. The latest series of high quality 1/10th scale ARTFX+ figures celebrates iconic characters appearing in Spider-Man titles, and up next after Peter Parker is his parallel Earth counterpart ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN! On that world young Miles Morales was bitten by a spider infused with a formula to instill spider powers, and after the death of Peter Parker the teen adopted the Spider-Man identity and set off on a path of crime-fighting. Miles became a worthy successor to Peter and a full-fledged hero on his own… and now he triumphantly joins the Spider-Man ARTFX+ Statue lineup!
Leaping into the fray to defend the innocent, Ultimate Spider-Man dives into the action in a powerful pose. Miles crouches low as he moves forward, his body coiled and ready to strike. The hero’s right arm is extended backwards for balance while his left reaches forward to shoot a web at his enemies. Ultimate Spider-Man wears his distinctive costume, a variant of the classic version in black and red with bright white eyes and a deeply sculpted web pattern. The dark color scheme and bright highlights along with the lifelike feel of Miles’ pose and the intricacies of his sculpted physique make for a stunning presentation. Sculpted by the same master artist responsible for the Marvel Now! Avengers and X-Men series (in addition to the Amazing Spider-Man), Junnosuke Abe, Ultimate Spider-Man is just over 4 inches tall (in the ARTFX+ 1/10th scale) while crouched, and he too has magnets in his feet to provide perfect stability on his included display base. Miles Morales looks great on his own and pairs perfectly with other Spidey-related ARTFX+ Statues from Kotobukiya like the Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, and more!
This rendition of Miles Morales is just one of many versions of Spider-Man Kotobukiya has created over the years, so let’s take some time to look back at what makes him special.
Miles Morales is a teenager that took over the role of Spider-Man from Peter Parker in the Ultimate Universe. Black versions of the Spider-Man suit have been worn by Peter Parker, such as in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, but this updated version with the red web pattern and spider mark are a fresh take on the classic costume!
The concept art for this statue was created by active Marvel Comics artist Stefano Caselli (@St3Caselli). The illustration has a nice fluid quality to it.
In order to emphasize this aspect of the illustration, we enlisted the help of ARTFX+ series veteran sculptor Junnosuke Abe (RESTORE)! Not only is the statue packed with a lot of detail such as the sculpting in the muscles, but at a compact 1/10 scale, it’s perfect for displaying on your desk.
As I mentioned before, Miles is a younger Spider-Man, and that is visible in his smaller and leaner form. Especially on his back, you can see he’s very lean with no extra blubber–the sign of a healthy young man with a high metabolism! It’s a very small detail, but if you look closely you can see wrinkles in his suit near his joints. It’s almost enough to make you forget that it’s quite small at 1/10 scale!
His back is decorated with a Spider Emblem. The red stands out nicely against the black!
The base is made of metal, giving it the same “magnetic power” as the ARTFX+ Amazing Spider-Man. The magnets in the statue’s feet allow you to attach him to any surface you want (as long as it’s magnetic) allowing you to display him in a very Spider-Man-like fashion!
Pre-orders are under way now! Check with your local retailer for details!
